'How are you' in Kaurna Language

Bringing the two worlds of evolving technology and the cultural intelligence of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australia within reach.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT TO COUNTRY

Garu InfoTech acknowledges and respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and nations as the traditional custodians of the land and waters that make us and surround Australia. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge the adverse impact of non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander settlement to culture and traditional practices. We recognise that our business is conducted on traditional lands across Australia and we commit to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to continue to learn and to contribute to the preservation of culture.

Who we are

Our belief is that the world of evolving technology and Australian Indigenous culture can work together to forge stronger reconciliation within the ICT sector. Our aim is to contribute towards the growth of Indigenous participation within the ICT sector and bridging the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

Garu exists to assist Australian businesses in navigating their Digital Transformation Journey whilst ensuring real change is achieved to strengthen Indigenous participation within the ICT sector, contributing to greater STEM sector diversity and inclusion.

What we do

We recognise and understand that many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people face additional challenges relating to job seeking and entering the workforce. Cultural awareness and understanding are paramount for our business to contribute towards closing the gap and creating meaningful change resulting in real outcomes within our sector.

We work closely with like-minded recruitment organisations and education centres to establish partnerships to enable these employment opportunities. Our recruitment program is governed by our employment policy to ensure our business achieves real engagement, change and outcomes.

At the forefront of this is our Junior Associate Consultant (JAC) Program. JAC is a hybrid junior professional development program, designed to enable employment opportunities and experiences for tertiary and vocational education graduates within the Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) sector.
